Social Media has changed the Fashion Industry over the years. Some may say it has helped the industry and others may disagree and say it has hurt the industry. But Social Media isn’t slowing down anytime soon and neither is the Fashion Industry.
For the last several years companies have been reaching out to social media influencers for collaboration on their latest products. By doing this cuts out the middleman of finding an actor or model for a commercial or marketing purposes. Many companies have been have using influencers to promote their brands on their social media platforms. Which means they’ll have to spend less money on putting out commercials and marketing because a social media influencer will do it for them. The money they would use for marketing and commercials can be used to pay the influencer. When a brand collaborates with bloggers and influencers, consumers can relate more and most likely buy the product.
It seems that more and more companies have jumped on the social media train by engaging with customers, by reposting customer’s photos on social media, creating hashtags.
Social Media has also influenced consumers to purchase online and less shopping in the store. Because influencers and bloggers will share a discount code or post affiliate links which will lead consumers to purchase that specific item.
Within this change comes the rise of Fast Fashion while some high-end items are not getting a first look like they used too. Simply because consumers are not looking to pay a lot of money to be “on trend” anymore. This day in age in order for any company to be successful and reach their consumers they must step up their Social Media game!
